Program: Clinical Dept. - Residential Campus

Position Function: The Peer Support Worker will engage with youth in the Residential Treatment cottages on CVCA's residential campus in Flourtown. This position works 40 hours per week, with some flexibility in schedule.

Role Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 years of related experience, preferably with adolescents
  • Personal lived experience in foster care or residential placement
  • Preferred: Certification as a Peer Specialist (CPS) in Pennsylvania (If you are not certified, you must be willing to attend training after hire.)
  • Valid driver’s license, daily access to a vehicle (for travel to home visits and community resources), and current auto insurance

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide one-to-one mentoring and listening to clients that will tap into the personal experience of the Peer Support Worker. Complete appropriate documentation for interactions.
  • Participate in and coordinate activities for youth in a residential setting, including running or participating in groups.
  • Plan birthday and discharge celebrations for each child.
  • Participate in weekly treatment review meetings and clinical-residential meetings.
  • Assist in the orientation process for youth who are new to the program.
  • Communicate with the treatment team regarding youth’s strengths and challenges. Share information as appropriate regarding accomplishments and obstacles to treatment goals.
  • Supervise clients in community outings if family resources are not available.
  • Develop youth’s ability to self-advocate.
  • Work with youth to develop skills to achieve goals as determined by treatment plans.
  • Assist in recovery efforts by sharing personal recovery experience.
  • Develop and coordinate the Youth Aid Panel.
  • Educate staff about the recovery process and coach appropriate staff-youth interaction.
  • Model personal responsibility, self-advocacy, and hope by sharing personal stories and modeling positive behaviors as appropriate.
  • As needed, attend family therapy sessions with the therapist in the home.

Training Requirements: Attend all required trainings. Comply with all regulatory and agency training requirements.

Work Environment and Primary Work Locations: CVCA’s Flourtown Campus and the surrounding community
